A Story of War

Beale returned from leave late, not having received his recall telegram – John, he and I spent last Saturday in Connemara after dinner, in observation. A letter from Ma, announcing Hugh’s marriage to Peggy Farlow. Wrote to Hugh and Uncle Bill. I am informed I go to S.A.S. Sangor January 25th – March 10th, and must pass the Retention exam before so doing – what fun. Observed a very good sunset last Sunday from Elliot’s beach, where was bathing. We have done a bit of riding lately, towards the Adyar, though unfortunately over the golf course. British officers + Indian officers vs Wilts Officers and sergeants of the detachment up here.
