A Story of War

Hugh still missing. Nothing of note for a month now. I just live and eat and sleep – or seem to. Saw David Cole get married the other day. There won’t be many girls left when I get home, if I ever do. A bit of bridge with Rosemary Abbott, though she can’t really play. Abbo’ is now at home (Willie too) having gone on a course at Minley. Now cracking with the Pashtu, and not finding it too easy. Three months I’ve been here now, and don’t see how I am ever going to get out of it. I tried for 59th, wrote to Brain once or twice, but nothing could be done as they have now gone off to Egypt.
