May 1st 1941

Flap! Flap! Pete does a forced landing on Falluja Plain near the cement factory on his recce. I go up afterwards and much as usual, only they seem to have less troops on the plateau. I count 12 horse drawn guns, but Allan makes it 25. Ling gives us some maps made in 1918 and they’re good, but roads etc have to be put in. We now have to stick to 2000′ so will not be able to see anything. No more steep turns at 250 feet!

2130: C/O has told us we attack Iraqis at 0500 tomorrow. Under Ian as C/O our flight is ordered to stand by from 0500.
