May 25th 1941

Two doses of ME110s yesterday and the first finds us all in the tent and we all get hurt jumping into the same trench. Today a lackadaisical blitz on Ramadi, but I don’t go up and haven’t done so for two days now. Then some bombing by a lone Heinkel and three 110s sweep by over the polo pitch and away. Cowley and I get the smoke candle and arrow working, but I doubt whether it will be of any use. (JDW: anyone know what this is?)

Am fed up with this war. I get enough sleep, enough food and something cold to drink, but life is getting pretty monotonous and a lot of new chaps in the Mess whom I don’t particularly want to talk with. But what to do.
