‘A’ and ‘B’ Flights go to Quetta the other day. None of the R/T sets work but they get off. I hate to see them go, being grounded, and knowing that I may never fly again. (JDW: he is alluding to his imminent medical, where he fears he will be ‘found out’). But I have put on RAF uniform now, so I have got so far. I ought to be F/O by now.

Went out with Stilliard and Glover, the new A.I.L.O., after birds, and saw quail and some sisi. These latter, hill partridge, are rock coloured and fly low over crests and up and down nullahs. Daniel killed near Razmak on a road recce. He flew into a mountain.
