October 17th 1942

Just waiting, and taking Atabrin. (anti-malarial). A cyclone is 100 miles east of Calcutta moving north, so a signal comes grounding all aircraft. A wing of three squadrons is coming here eventually – 28 sqn and 1 F/R sqn at Ranchi and another F/R squadron at Chara, wherever that is. Young Margaret Sharp comes to see us several times, and brings me a large slab of chocolate. The weather here is affected by the cyclone, and there’s a strong blow from the north for two days.
