A Story of War

On an exercise at Kolar again. One day in the Mess Chapman and I get boiled vegetables only for lunch. We then find that Nazir Ullahas said they won’t pay for British food for tiffin. I ask him about this and he says “Yes, you have English food, but you can pay extra for it.” Was I angry!

I have a cold in my nose for nearly three weeks, but I fly up here successfully, and yesterday do a Tac/R at 5000′, seeing very little. 171 Wing, only, is playing on the scheme with Hammerbeck the sole representative of Group. We manage to get some beer up here, and I have a bottle of Canadian Club so am OK. I reckon I shall have to stay as C.O. and my Bangalore posting will be cancelled.
